Libertyland was a small, charming theme park in Memphis, TN. Designed by Duell & Associates, the same firm responsible for most of the regional theme parks around the country, it was intended to fit a smaller niche than the likes of Six Flags, Opryland, and so on. With a much smaller footprint (and budget), it was well-designed, but could never really attract the attendance necessary to keep it afloat. Locals banded together in a valiant effort to preserve the park, but to no avail. I describe it briefly in the park history book, but you should get a copy of Images of Modern America: Libertyland, which has great information and tons of photos. The park map and concept art in the gallery below can be found in the book as well.
